Santa clara valley VTA bus?

so i want to take the VTA bus from great mall to valley fair. i tried looking up the directions on google and i used the VTA bus routes but im still really confused (mostly on the bus transfer)

can someone explain it to me? and also do you tell the bus driver when to stop because i don't know where to stop (its my first time taking the bus) and how do you know which direction the bus will be going? you could also write what i should say.

and they have a transit planner which covers the entire bay area

so used their trip planner (assume you were going tomorrow departing at 10:00am
